T-Birds escape Cougar's Lair by a feather-close one basket
LAUGHLIN - It was a real dog-fight Friday night in the Cougars' Lair Gym, but the Thunderbird boys basketball team escaped with a feather-thin victory thanks to a lucky three-point shot which couldn't seem to make up its mind whether it wanted to go through the rim or not.
Indian Springs High School freshman Junior Baker's attempt from the deep left corner beyond the arc finally did topple through the iron with 40 seconds left. This allowed the Red, White and Blue to return to Creech Air Force Base-land in northwestern Clark County with a new insignia painted on the side of their fuselage from the 45-42 win.
